L'ORÉAL | INDIAN BEAUTY
PARIS | 14.01.16
WHERE CULTURE, SPIRITUALITY AND TRADITION MEET
CONTEXT
L'Oréal is celebrating beauty in its many forms by inviting its employees to explore a photographic exhibition inspired by its slogan "Beauty for all". The cosmetics company is also keen to share these images with visitors to its social media platforms.
COMMISSION
After Africa, Brazil, Russia and Japan, L’Oréal asks Tetro to produce a fifth photographic exhibition, this time on the theme of Indian beauty.
CREATION
Women’s and men’s beauty in India is not reduced to a single stereotype. Indian beauty is as multifaceted as the country itself. What makes someone beautiful is complex, as is their relationship with their bodies, since it lies at the crossroads between tradition, culture and religion. Unlike in the West, where beauty is carefully plucked and pampered, in India, it emerges naturally. Genuine, like nature, where nothing is perfect in itself, Indian beauty is quite simply perfect because it encourages us to see the whole rather than the part.
For this latest exhibition, Tetro selects four talented photographers, each admirers of their country’s beauty: Poras Chaudhary, Arjun Mark, Mahesh Shantaram, Samar Singh Virdi
