KINETIC CONCERT
— FESTIVAL OF LIGHTS —
Each year, Lyon’s traditional Festival of Lights attracts nearly three million visitors who come to view the approximately 100 art installations that take over the city for several days.
— ART INSTALLATION —
Tetro produces GRID, a monumental kinetic light show created by the Berlin-based artist Christopher Bauder of WhiteVoid.
Showcasing to great effect the Hôtel de Région’s architecture by Christian de Portzamparc, GRID is a light structure composed of 50 triangles, each made from 150 motorized bars of LEDs and suspended in air to form a massive dynamic grid that extends 22 metres in length.
Morphing from straight lines into diagonals and diamonds, GRID comes alive to the rhythm of contemporary sounds from two musical ensembles: the 45 choral singers with the choir Concert de l’Hotel-Dieu performing the Bach tribute Immortal Bach, arranged by Knut Nystedt; and Robert Henke’s score of electronic music.
GRID was a hit with the critics and the public alike, including: Digital|Arti, The Creators Project & Wired
