PARAMETRIC SCULPTURE IN SOUND AND LIGHT
"Agorythm is a poetic journey into the depths of urban intelligence, through the collection of real-time data on the city and its functioning and their transformation into a kinetic simulation of its environmental reality. The immersive installation is made up of parametric laser sculptures that help visualise this invisible data, which is often difficult to interpret."
The work designed by Onionlab is a specific adaptation for Lyon of a creation from the Llum festival 2021 in Barcelona. This is the second time it has been presented in the world, and the first time outside Spain.
For the Fête des Lumières, the artistic team and TETRO+A have come up with a local version focusing on the environment and soft mobility, suggesting a parallel with the colours of the Vélov'. For the occasion, they are collaborating with Lyon-based smartcity players Meersens and data.grandlyon.
By proposing to set up in the Parc de la Tête d'Or, we hope to offer a place to meet and reflect on Lyon and its ecosystem in the heart of its most beautiful natural area. The lighting design, the artistic approach and the technical equipment have been adapted to blend in harmoniously with the lake.
ARTISTIC APPROACH
AGORA + ALGORiThME+ RYTHM = AGORYTHM
The agora is a meeting place for citizens. A place where people come together in the same way as the spectators in the installation.
An algorithm is a set of commands and instructions for processing and representing data. This parametric data makes it possible to analyse the functioning of a city and its environment, its mechanisms and their movement.
Rhythm is the repetition of patterns with a given temporal frequency, giving the pulse of the city. Sound represents and gives substance to variations and changes in data. Agorythm is an immersive installation where spectators can experience an artistic representation of Lyon's environmental reality through the analysis of air quality, electricity consumption, noise pollution and bicycle mobility recorded in different areas of the city.
