How can attention be captured and sustained within a space designed for movement?

Our response

Turning public space into a collective artwork.

We invited Brazilian artist Fernando Volken Togni to create his own vision of Lyon through a monumental participatory mural. Installed in the heart of Place de la République, the artwork took the form of a 500 sqm mosaic composed of more than 22,000 coloured modules.

The installation could only be revealed through public participation. Throughout the day, residents, families and passers-by were invited to contribute to its construction. Each individual action became part of a larger collective image.

More than a temporary artwork, the mural became a tool for placemaking and urban appropriation. The district was discovered through a shared gesture, where artistic creation, civic participation and urban transformation came together.

By bringing together more than 1,500 participants around a single creation, the project transformed an inauguration into a city-scale collective experience.
